Countdown Boxes

My son's birthday is 12/1 which also starts our countdown to Christmas. I know the holiday is over, but the idea of counting down to a special event can happen all year long.

This year, beginning on 12/1, he got to open one box labeled with the date.  It was a good exercise for him to 1.) Keep track of when Santa would arrive; and 2) Practice his numbers.  I may do something similar for Easter... we'll see how busy life is with the new baby too.

The boxes were made using Tags, Bags, Boxes & More.  The trees, from memory, I believe are from the Christmas Solutions cartridge.  Without my lovely Gypsy, I can't tell you which font I used for the numbers.  The numbers were ran through my Xyron and affixed to the trees which were ornamented using various stickle colors.  I used inexpensive paper for the boxes, knowing that each day they'd be ripped to shreds for the contents.  Each box is somewhere around 2.5-3"... I can't recall exactly.  The project took me about 2-3 hours to complete from start to finish, but that time includes everything from cutting, layering, embellishing, and assembling all parts.  I wish I took a pic of all 25 sitting together, but by the time I thought of it (again), we were down to the wire.

Hopefully you can use this project in another special countdown project.  It was great watching him run to get the day's "Christmas Box".

P.S.  Box 25 had to stay up since these photos were taken on 12/24. :)
