Baby Update & 12 Christmas Cards...

Where do I begin?  Let's start at the beginning.  I went to my 38w1d check-up and my lovely OB/GYN checks to see if dilation has begun.

DOC: "There is nothing going on there."
ME:  (WHAT?!?!!)  "Uh, is ANYTHING going on at all?"
DOC:  "Nope.  Looks like you may go another 2 weeks."
ME:  (UGH)

So that is pretty much the word.  Nothing, nada, no baby. At least not now.  Things can change quickly, but I wouldn't bet my gift from Santa on it.  In the end, it's ok.  The longer baby boy #2 lingers, the further apart his and his big brother's birthdays will be (Dec 1st & ???), which may make birthday celebrations a little easier in the future.  We'll see!


***ADDED NOTE: Despite the candies, chocolates, pies, cakes and other horribly sugar-filled goodies I have been eating like a pig (oh, and the extra 4 enchiladas I ate a 11pm last night) I weighed in 2lbs lighter this morning at the docs AND my FBG was 76 AND my HbA1C was 5.1.  I am SO normal.  Goodies from Harry & David (courtesy of Anna, my sweet friend) - here I come!

So I take advantage of my Archiver's coupons (if you haven't signed up for them yet, head to your local store and do it!  You get some nice coupons that - if you're like me - will keep you heading back to the store for more).    My task is to make 12 Christmas cards (yes, last minute) for my father-in-law to give to his nieces and nephews, ages 2-18.  I grab some paper (buy 5, get 5 free coupon), some very fine glitter (30% off coupon) and a stamp for a later project (another 30% off coupon).  Ten bucks later, I'm on my way home to get going!

I have several embellishments ready to cut with my Cricut all saved in my Gyspy.  After dinner I plug things in and get the snowman ready for card #1.  Here is how he turned out:

In hind sight, I should have put some foil under the bottom snowball where the detail is cut.  Maybe I'll go back and do that tomorrow.

So I set up my mat to cut out the next two embellishments - a wreath and a tree, both with two layers to start.  Everything goes in and then I get an error on my Gypsy saying it detects a security breach and will shut down.  What?!?!?  A security breach?  As if I'm selling secrets to an enemy nation!  Seriously, it's a Gypsy.  And even more seriously, I'm stuck for the rest of the night because PC customer support is closed for the evening.  That put a serious damper on my productivity calendar.

Beyond my hour of frustration updating and reinstalling firmware onto my Gypsy *hoping* that it will take care of my issue (which it doesn't), I finally accept that I will have to wait until Wednesday to make the call and get this issue resolved.

In the meantime, being the pack-rat that I am, I go through old Christmas cards from years past and decide which ones I can recycle into newbies.  I decide on a few that have some fun characteristics and create two more cards from there.  Here is card #2:

My cellular camera doesn't really do this justice, but it was easier than pulling out the Nikon.  I stamped and embossed the Happy Holidays below then used my Quickie pen and red MS glitter on parts of the letters.  I had a smudge, so to hide it, I put on the two prismatic stars on either side.  On the top layer, I put more green dot paper and recycled a stocking from an old Christmas card I received.  Card #2 done.  

Onto another RRR card (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle).  I'm all about recycling - bags, boxes, cards - you name it!  So here is a santa that needed some love.  All his stickies were old and cracked so his layers were non-existant.  I put new foam tape on a few of his layers, cut a little here and there, ATG gunned the image to some red card stock and wa-lah!  Card #3 is now done.  Here it is:

I love layered images.  Sometimes I will stamp an image 3x... first for the base, second for dimension and third for details that need even more attention - an alternative color or some fun stuff like glitter or embossing.

So 3/12 cards are done.  I have to finish these up Wednesday then head to the stores to buy some gift cards to enclose.  Wish me luck w/PC tomorrow - that will make or break my timeline!  In the meantime, happy scrapping!
