California Love

California was beautiful.  We spent time with DH's side of the family - his Aunts, Uncles, Cousins.  We were able to hang out and have fun with his sister, niece and nephew.  My BIL and his wife came out for the weekend and a cousin's wedding and we all headed out to the wineries.  It was awesome to hang out with the family.  The boys had a blast with their cousins - Alex didn't want to come home!  I don't blame him either.

We went shopping, wine tasting, ate at bakeries and enjoyed the bay.  On DH's birthday, we had lunch with his aunts, uncles, cousins, sister, etc. then spent the day with my SIL, niece and nephew in San Francisco where we ate crabs on the pier and splurged on the 8-scoop Ghirardelli Family Favorite ice cream sundae.  We shopped, walked, talked and laughed.  DH was so very happy with his birthday.  He didn't realize how much he missed hanging out with the family from Cali.  He (and we) had a blast.

Alex also discovered his baby brother's third new tooth!  Finally one on the top.  It's progress!

Then we arrived to cold, wet, windy Chicago.  Our flight got in around 1:30am and I was ready to get back onto the plane and go back.  Ick.  Today isn't as bad - it's actually "nice" out in Chicagoland terms. We went to a farm for Alex's preschool field trip, pet animals, had a hay ride, went through a corn maze, played on a play land and Alex got a pumpkin.  Afterward we ate at one of Alex's favorites: the Soup Store (aka Panera).  Then the boys raked and played in the leaves that have accumulated the last two weeks while I sat on the patio typing this blog.  We then went to a Halloween carnival and finished the night watching the rest of CHUCK, season 1 in front of the tube. :)  Now it's Saturday and the weekend is jam-packed with fun things (ice skating, soccer, an equestrian birthday party, football get-together) and I'm hoping the weather stays decent for us (though I think we're supposed to have rain on Sunday).

So life is still interesting, to say the least.  Our next trip will be back to FL, although I haven't pinned down an exact date yet.  I'm thinking we'll stay here for about 2 weeks then head out.  We're not sure if DH will finish this project in mid-November or mid-December, which will make a big difference as to when we go and for how long we will stay out there.

I'd love to type more, but we have to get kids ready and out the door.  Enjoy your weekend!
