Meanwhile, I had my own adventure in the kitchen. I started to make breakfast for the bunch. We had the guys, the kids, my mom and a friend (Esther) who was stranded in the blizzard overnight at our place - and me, of course - to feed. Here come strawberry pancakes, eggs with chorizo, cheese and onion, bacon and sausage. As I cracked the first egg for scrambling, I had a double yolk.
"Good luck!" shouted my mom. Apparently she believes this was a sign of good fortune.
Second egg is cracked. Double yolk again. Now I'm thinking about all these poor twin chicks. Figures that is where my mind would go!
I crack FOUR more eggs and EVERY SINGLE ONE WAS A DOUBLE YOLK. Can you say, "Weird!"? It wasn't until the seventh egg that things came back to normal.
Now for the snow pics... These were taken by the DH. Hello Chicago. It's time to get out the sleds again!
Outside our home... My Mom's truck, FIL's truck & Esther's car. |
Partially shoveled driveway. |
Have you seen piles this high before? How fun! |
My FIL showing off the snow piles. |
The men of the street were planning to shovel the street too! Just in case of an emergency. :) |
Drift piled quite a bit of snow against the homes. |
Just by opening the door during the blizzard, my car got covered in snow - WHILE STILL IN THE GARAGE! |
I did get to spend quite a bit of my day crafting... I'll have pics for you soon on those!
Thanks for reading!
